Assistant Vice President at GCashOfficial

Less noise, more poise.

Luis Buenaventura has an appreciation for limited-intent tech—smart devices that do a few useful things really well. Operating in a fast-paced, globally connected industry like cryptocurrency, he needed a smart device that keeps him connected to what matters, without distraction. Enter Even G1: the everyday smart glasses.

Now, Luis leverages the powerful features of Even G1 to work smarter. He uses Dashboard to keep an eye on crypto prices as he moves from meetings to conferences. A frequent public speaker at crypto forums, he delivers smoother speeches using AI-driven Teleprompt. Whether he's creating professional video content or proposing to his girlfriend in Taipei, Luis puts Even G1 to work in many ways. Scroll on as he discusses how Even G1 seamlessly integrates into his everyday life—and if she said yes.

As someone in the dynamic space of cryptocurrency, what initially sparked your interest in Even Realities and the concept of smart glasses?

Over the last 10 years or so we've been overloading our smartphones with way too much functionality. We use them for communication, navigation, media consumption, photography and videography, smart home interaction, etc., and to be honest, they perform quite poorly for many of those things. Referring to a tiny screen while you're exploring a new city is not ideal. Constantly digging them out of your pocket when you hear a notification sound is very distracting. Also, there's a real social cost in never making eye contact with the people around you because you're always looking down at your mobile devices. For these reasons and many others, I've been looking for more limited-intent computing devices, like smart glasses, smart rings, etc. Even G1 was the perfect first step in this direction: it looks great and it does a handful of very useful things.

In the fast-paced and globally connected crypto industry, how has Even G1 integrated into your daily workflow?

I always have a handful of core crypto prices visible in my Even G1 Dashboard—Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP—and I have limited app notifications setup that alert me when the market moves aggressively. I prefer this silent, purely-visual notification method because it's more precise. When you're working with a lot of numbers, audio notifications like in other popular smart glasses don't quite cut it.

In what ways has Even G1 changed how you approach and deliver public speeches? Have features like Teleprompt or Dashboard been useful?

I create a lot of video content and the AI-powered teleprompter on Even G1 is a godsend. Typically, you have to have a pretty elaborate camera rig in order to mount a teleprompter unit, and it means that it takes at least a few minutes to get everything ready before I can start shooting. It also means that I have to have all my gear with me when I'm planning on shooting. Every solo content creator knows how difficult it is to carry your entire rig with you when you're also packing for your day job or other social activities.

With Even G1, all I have to do is power my camera on, clip my microphone, hit the START button on the teleprompter feature in the Even Realities app, and that's it. Not only has it allowed me to record multiple takes with zero setup time, but it has reduced my shooting rig to literally just a pocket camera, a tiny lapel mic, and my glasses. I don't even need a bag to carry those!

What's your proposal story? And did QuickNote have a starring role in its success?

Although I'm used to public speaking, having to stage a surprise proposal while visiting a foreign country with my girlfriend was a whole other level of difficulty.

We were in a restaurant in Taipei. I had secretly flown her friends and family in from the Philippines and they were hiding in the next room. The plan was to usher them into our private dining room in stages: first, my sister, then, my girlfriend's closest friends, and finally, all of her cousins. Each stage required me to say a few words—emphasizing how much I valued our families and our friends, and how big a role they all played in our lives.

Since I was super nervous, I decided the best way to not forget anything was to write down important keywords and put them in QuickNote. I didn't use Teleprompt because I'd actually have to look down to turn it on, whereas QuickNote is always visible on the dashboard. It wasn't the greatest speech I've ever delivered, but I guess it worked out because we're getting married next year!

How would you describe the design and comfort? Do you find it stylish and ergonomic for daily use?

Even G1 are my daily glasses, so I wear them all day long. My only real issue with Even G1 is that I can't get a set of progressive lenses on them. I'm told it's possible but I need to visit one of their retail partners in person, which isn't feasible for me. Because of that, I have to take them off whenever I read something close-up, which is a little inconvenient.

What features or improvements would you envision for future Even G1 models?

I think the visual side of Even G1 is already perfect. I don't care about high-resolution projections, I just want something low-power, easy to read, and fast. I also don't care about cameras because I own other smart glasses and I already know that their camera features have only had limited use for me. The one thing I would definitely add to the next generation of Even Realities glasses are speakers so I can also take calls on them. That would make them perfect in my book!

What key advice would you offer other entrepreneurs considering an investment in technology to enhance their work and communication?

At $599, Even G1 is an easy purchase for anyone who enjoys exploring the bleeding edge of consumer tech. Content creators will for sure find it incredibly useful, as will anyone who regularly needs to speak in public. When I'm on stage, being able to see real-time notifications is also very helpful. It means my team backstage can feed me information when there are tricky audience questions or relevant data that I'm forgetting.

Just give it a shot, you won't regret it!
